Employment Pathways
Supporting young people into meaningful, sustainable employment.
Motivationz Employment Pathways is a free service supporting young adults aged 18-24 to become work-ready, build confidence, and move into meaningful employment.
Through our MSD-funded employment services, we work alongside jobseekers, employers, and the wider community to create real employment pathways. Our focus is not just on finding someone a job, it is on helping young people develop the skills, confidence, attitude, and support they need to stay in work and succeed.
We are also actively building strong relationships with local businesses across Christchurch. By understanding what employers need, the challenges they face, and the type of people who fit their workplace, we can better prepare jobseekers for real opportunities.
The Benefits
The Key Benefits:

For Employers
At Motivationz, we do not simply “fill vacancies”. We take the time to understand your business, your industry, your workplace culture, and the skills you need in your team, connecting employers with young people who are better prepared, better supported, and more likely to succeed.
Businesses working with Motivationz can benefit from:
Work-ready candidates supported through coaching and mentoring
Young people developing practical workplace and employability skills
Candidates from first-time jobseekers to those with work experience or qualifications
Ongoing support for both the employer and employee
A collaborative approach focused on your workforce needs
A genuine relationship-based service, not a quick placement approach

For Jobseekers
Many young people have the ability to work but need support to understand what employers expect. We help jobseekers develop the practical skills and behaviours needed to succeed, including:
Communication and confidence
Timekeeping and reliability
Personal presentation
Interview preparation
CV and job application support
Workplace attitude and expectations
Teamwork and problem-solving
Managing barriers to employment
Understanding employer expectations

NEET
WORKING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Our youth service (NEET) is funded by the Ministry of Social Development with the ultimate aim of reducing benefit dependency among young people. The initiative is part of phase one of the welfare reforms.
Motivationz is contracted to deliver in the Christchurch region only. Our aim is to use a holistic approach to work with young people and be able to ignite some passion and motivation within. Youth will look to not be in receipt of a benefit three months after they turn 18.
The Objectives of Youth Service (NEET) are to support young people to actively engage in education, training and work-based training in order to achieve an NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and to help young people into and to stay in employment.

Overview
We believe employment works best when everyone is supported. That is why we bring three parties together: the jobseeker, the employer, and Motivationz.
Who is eligible for Youth Mentoring and Jobseeker support?
Our Youth Mentoring programmes support eligible young people aged 15–24. Our Jobseeker programmes are designed for eligible young people aged 18–24 who need support preparing for and moving into employment.
What happens when a young person joins a programme?
We start by getting to know the young person, understanding their circumstances and identifying their strengths, needs and goals. Together, we develop a practical plan with clear steps towards education, training or employment.
Is the support tailored to each young person?
Yes. Every young person is different, so our support is based on their individual needs, strengths, and goals. This may include one-to-one mentoring, group sessions, practical activities, and employment preparation.
Can you help someone who is not yet ready for employment?
Yes. Not everyone is ready to move straight into work. We can help young people build confidence, develop everyday life skills, establish routines and prepare for education, training or future employment.
Do you continue supporting jobseekers after they find work?
Yes. Starting a job is only the first step. Where appropriate, our team provides ongoing support to help the young person settle into the workplace, manage any challenges and maintain their employment.
