Employment Pathways

Motivationz Employment Pathways

Supporting young people into meaningful, sustainable employment.

Motivationz Employment Pathways is a free service supporting young adults aged 18-24 to become work-ready, build confidence, and move into meaningful employment.

Through our MSD-funded employment services, we work alongside jobseekers, employers, and the wider community to create real employment pathways. Our focus is not just on finding someone a job, it is on helping young people develop the skills, confidence, attitude, and support they need to stay in work and succeed.

We are also actively building strong relationships with local businesses across Canterbury. By understanding what employers need, the challenges they face, and the type of people who fit their workplace, we can better prepare jobseekers for real opportunities.

For Employers

Working With Local Businesses

At Motivationz, we do not simply “fill vacancies”. We take the time to understand your business, your industry, your workplace culture, and the skills you need in your team, connecting employers with young people who are better prepared, better supported, and more likely to succeed.

Businesses working with Motivationz can benefit from:

  • Work-ready candidates supported through coaching and mentoring
  • Young people developing practical workplace and employability skills
  • Candidates from first-time jobseekers to those with work experience or qualifications
  • Ongoing support for both the employer and employee
  • A collaborative approach focused on your workforce needs
  • A genuine relationship-based service, not a quick placement approach
How It Works

A Triangle of Support

We believe employment works best when everyone is supported. That is why we bring three parties together: the jobseeker, the employer, and Motivationz.

Jobseeker

Supported every step of the way, never left to figure things out alone.

Employer

Backed throughout, never left unsupported if challenges come up.

Motivationz

Stays involved to help the young person settle in, build good habits, and maintain employment.

For Jobseekers

Skills We Help Jobseekers Build

Many young people have the ability to work but need support to understand what employers expect. We help jobseekers develop the practical skills and behaviours needed to succeed, including:

  • Communication and confidence
  • Timekeeping and reliability
  • Personal presentation
  • Interview preparation
  • CV and job application support
  • Workplace attitude and expectations
  • Teamwork and problem-solving
  • Managing barriers to employment
  • Understanding employer expectations
  • Building confidence to enter and remain in work

OVERVIEW

HELPING SHAPE OUR YOUTH

Alongside our sports programs, we are passionate about mentoring the youth of New Zealand. Our aim is to provide mental and wellbeing support as well as helping to develop important life skills and education. This is undertaken through three of our programs; NEET, Kia Maia and Education to Employment.

NEET

WORKING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Our youth service (NEET) is funded by the Ministry of Social Development with the ultimate aim of reducing benefit dependency among young people. The initiative is part of phase one of the welfare reforms.

Motivationz is contracted to deliver in the Christchurch region only. Our aim is to use a holistic approach to work with the students and be able to ignite some passion and motivation within. Our students will look to not be in receipt of a benefit three months after they turn 18.

The Objectives of Youth Service (NEET) are to support young people to actively engage in education, training and work-based training in order to achieve an NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and to help young people into and to stay in employment.
