OVERVIEW

HELPING SHAPE OUR YOUTH

Alongside our sports programs, we are passionate about mentoring the youth of New Zealand. Our aim is to provide mental and wellbeing support as well as helping to develop important life skills and education. This is undertaken through three of our programs; NEET, Kia Maia and Education to Employment.

NEET

WORKING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Our youth service (NEET) is funded by the Ministry of Social Development with the ultimate aim of reducing benefit dependency among young people. The initiative is part of phase one of the welfare reforms.

Motivationz is contracted to deliver in the Christchurch region only. Our aim is to use a holistic approach to work with the students and be able to ignite some passion and motivation within. Our students will look to not be in receipt of a benefit three months after they turn 18.

The Objectives of Youth Service (NEET) are to support young people to actively engage in education, training and work-based training in order to achieve an NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and to help young people into and to stay in employment.

KIA MAIA

BE BRAVE, BE BOLD, BE CAPABLE, BE CONFIDENT

The Kia Maia programme is a work readiness and employment programme.

The programme is specific to the individual needs of the young person and is a strengths-based approach incorporating:

Skills for living based on the Te Whare Tapa Whā principles
Micro credentials, life skills, and training to develop the young person’s pathway and transition them into employment, further education, or training
Transition support into education, training, or employment that is relevant to each young person and their goals.

Age 15-24 years of age. Motivationz runs this programme in Christchurch.

EDUCATION TO EMPLOYMENT

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL

The service aims to raise the profile and strengthen the pipeline of students coming into the vocational education system.

It will encourage and support the coordination and support of employers and the local business community to be involved in vocational education, employment and development opportunities for young people.

The service will increase and enhance the opportunities for young people to be aware of and improve access to vocational education prospects for future careers in trades.
